Not much to report but here goes all the same…
Dan and I had arranged a session some weeks back for this weekend on the West cost so we met up at around 3 o’clock at the mark in terrible conditions (Wind and Rain). All the same here was good surf on the beach so this was a good sign of targeting the allusive Westie Bass. Armed with a load of bait we set up just as the tide was on the HW Mark. On with 2 hook flappers size 1/0 hooks and out went they into the Surf. 20min later Dan reeled in a nice flounder of 38cm and shortly after I had a 23cm flounder. So Blank saved. We decided against the 2nd rod as the weed started to show in force. About an hour later I had a good Knock that was definitely not a flattie, but no pickup and things went quite for both of us after that. The weather continued right through the session but the catch rate didn’t. With the tide now 4 hrs the other side of full and us soaked even with the rain gear on, it was time to go. All the same was good to get out and we will continue the hunt for the Westie Bass.
