Dublin Rocks 18/09/2010

Sat Sep 18, 2010 8:38 pm

People:Gordy and me

Duration:4pm until7pm

Tide:Rising

Weather:South Westerly breeze and driving rain for the most part

Bait:Rag, mac and sand eel

Rigs:Pulley and flappers

Results:Dogfish X3, Wrasse X1 and Codling X1

Report:Continuing our summer Dublin tour we tried a different spot today off some local rocks. It looked dodgy getting down but we found a safe pathway and worked out the escape route just in case! We were hoping for Pollock and anything else would be a bonus. I had three dogs in consecutive casts to sand eel. As the tide got higher we tried a little closer in and despite the odd snag I managed a lovely coloured red codling and a wrasse to rag. Hunger and the prospect of take aways got the better of us and we pack it in and headed for home.

Photo doesn't do it justice but it was a kelpy red if anything  Gordy was well able for the three fences, mad dog and rope ladder we had to deal with. All those years in the TA paying off! And the hat is all I have since my coat got knicked

Fair play Conor,,,,,dont mind Roger about that hat,its a nice hat although suspiciously like my new lucky one  ,,,,,,,,Glad to see you did a risk assessment before attempting to fish that mark,,,sensible boys  Thats the thing about some photos, they dont do the fish justice, you'll have to get some tea towels for background effect , and remember to keep those little xmas cracker items that will make fish look bigger like mini scissors etc. . Looks like a good wrasse mark, though I wonder if theyre getting a bit thin on the ground of late,,,,,,,anyways well done on pulling out a few fish
