Report:Im starting to get fed up with having to work for a living, its really been ruining my fishing and photography this year

I`ve hardly been out this year due to having to work two jobs just to scrape a living and when i do have some free time the weathers crap...
Anyway in between jobs and bad weather i`ve managed to get four sessions in over the last 16 days. Some were good but some were total rubbish
First session was last Wednesday.I`d taken two days off work to fish the big tides at one of my favourite marks, but the
wind was the worst possible direction for that mark so i headed to the mark i send people to catch their first mullet.
Comber is the easiest mark to get a mullet in the whole of Strangford, especially when they are there in good numbers...
Myself and a mate arrived about half an hour before the tide was due to push in which was just aswell cos some prick with nothing better
to do had built a weir across the river and a big branch had got stuck in it so we had to drag it out or it would cause problems when playing a fish.....
We stayed here for the whole tide and very few fish came in with the tide.Maybe only 60 fish had made it this far so moral was low.
Once the tide started to drop the mullet only came out in one`s and two`s and just swam straight past and out into the lough
That was blank number one
Thursday i was on my own cos my mate couldn`t get another day off work and the wind was a better direction for my favourite mark.I arrived with plenty
of time to spare and had a look around to see if they had been feeding there the day before.
There were good numbers of scrape`s around the area so i was very hopefull that my day off work wouldn`t
be a waste.
As the tide started to flood the area i could see fish moving in so i got into the water and fed them for a while to get their confidence up..
Within 25mins i had a group of 30+ fish feeding and took my first cast. The wind changed and my float was pushed the wrong way so i moved into position again and had another chuck. This time it went right over them and right on cue one took a stab at my bread but missed it

That was the last fish i saw for this session..... this mark usually has hundreds of good mullet at this time of year but the most i`ve seen here this year is 30
My next session was on Saturday 11th,this was my weekend off both jobs and i didn`t want to waste it.I decided to move to another part of the lough for this one since the other marks had been so poor.
This is one of the marks i found this year and has only let me down twice.Thankfully this session wasn`t to be the third.
After a very long walk i arrived just as the tide was bringing large groups of fish with it.I didn`t bother spending time getting them to feed and i just
started to fish straight away.I only had to wait for 20 mins before my first fish which took about 50 yards of line twice before i got it under control and in the
net.This weighed in at 4.4lb

the next 30 mins saw me miss a few more bites then i was hit again but this didn`t fight as well and i had it in the net very quickly. This one only took the scales to 3.65lb but was still very welcome....
I lost two more fish and missed another two bites before the session was over.
Happy days my first two fish after over a week of nothing but work..
My last session was on Monday afternoon.I booked a half day off work again to head down to Saturdays mark but the wind was rubbish so i had to go in search of a
completely new mark which was sheltered.
After a quick look at the map i`d decided on where to try and i made sure i arrived in plenty of time to search around for signs of feeding.
No signs but i was still confident that it would hold mullet..
As the tide filled the bay i could see the odd splash as mullet made their way in.Two hours before high tide and the bay had plenty of mullet around but it took
1.5 hrs to get them interested in the bread.I only saw a handful of fish feeding but that turned out to be enough and i finally had a bite and a fish on.
The fight was great at first but then it swam into a pile of weed and dragged it about the bay and i was waiting for it to get away. The weed covered its eyes
and it calmed down enough for me to net it.Another fine fish of 4.4lb

They all vanished after that so i headed for home.....
Only another 4 weeks or so before the season is over so i hope to get another few good sessions in before it ends so i can maybe get another few fish...
29 Sessions and 22 fish so far. This time last year i had 26 fish and over 50 sessions
I wish i could give up work and just fish,(and have more time for photography too)
If anyones got any ideas on how to make this happen i`d love to know
