People;myself and eskimo(dennis)

Duration; 06.00pm-23.00pm

Tide; hw @ 19.45pm

Weather;was beggining to wonder if i was in mayo  flippin gorgeous

Bait; macks,lugs,whitebait,razors,sandeels

Rigs; flappers,pulleys

Results; loads of flounders, small turbots, small whitings, mackerals, doggies and a sand dab?

Report;........met up with dennis on the wednesday and we were both itching for a cast that evening but due to the lateness of the evening and little bait we put it off till friday to give us some time to get properly organised.so friday wasnt long coming and he picked me up at around 13.00pm and we headed off to get our bait.we went to a local razor fish mark and picked up around 20 good size razors.(i think we brought 8 for bait in the end and we both swallowed 6 each yummy  ).we also dug a few lug too so we were both happy enough with the bait scenario as we had macks, sandeels and whitebait at home.he dropped me off in town at 14.30pm and had agreed to pick me up at 17.15pm as he had to go home to his family for a while.17.15pm came and we both loaded up the wagon and headed away to this mark.we were puzzelled on which mark to try.i have a new ledge mark but tides did not suit that,i got a whisper in the ear the other day of an old plaice mark, but we both opted for lacken as it was september and we had a feeling it wud start to produce.recent reports off here werent that good.there is a open competition on the beach there on the 31st of october so hopefully this report will give ye good confidence.the beach was unusual as with the spring tides on,all the sand had being shoved far up the beach lets say to the high tide water line and we felt as if we were fishing from a ledge and casting into deep water.anyway so we banged out our rods at 6 and had only them out when we got our first fish.a flounder for dennis maybe at about 26cms.my first fish was shortly after and it was a tiny turbot that is pictured in me hand below.just to let ye all know this was my first turbot ever.didnt care bout the size.after that we both were pulling in flounders.some very small and some medium.then i pulled in another small turbot.a bit bigger than the last one thou.it went quiet for a while after high water with the odd flounder, but then when dusk came i got a heavy knock on the rod to which i first thought of a seatrout.i reeling it in to which i had a 2 mackeral and a tiny sand dab on a 3 hook flapper.the mackeral were starving they took the lugworms.banged it out again and got another mackeral.the mackeral were fine sized.never had mackeral from this beach before.dark was on us at this stage so we picked up a few more flats along with some doggies and small whitings.at around 22.30pm ,drizzel started to fall which then turned quiet heavy so we agreed to wrap up and head home.we were both very happy with our evening, but i was even more as i got me first turbots.we drove home to stop off in a local that is renowned for its pint, with no hesitation 2 pints off creamy guinness were orderd.we had a toast to the good evening and downed them down like milk.perfect way to finish a session

all fish were released and will live to fight another day

Cheers brian

Is there much of a difference between a sand dab and a dab ?

I've been looking for the dinner-sized ones myself when I'm out in the boat, but nothing so far..... he has the place scraped out.
