Quick session at the weekend in the surf. One rod in close picked up the usual flounder, turbot and sea trout, while one rod at distance showed very little interest for the first hour. On my fourth cast after having retrieved about 30 yds I hit what I assumed was a sandbank until it started moving very rapidly in the opposite direction and exploded out of the water. I've had tope take a bait on the retrieve before but it still takes a while to register whats going on. A nice fish which put up a great scrap in the shallow water. I had hopes of a few more but as dusk approached the dogs took over and that was that.
