Donaghadee 5th September

Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:21 am

People:Just Me

Duration:6:30pm-8:30pm

Tide:Rising

Weather:Very Windy

Bait:lug and rag

Rigs: 2up

Results:pollock, coalie, rocking, cod, poor cod

Report: Had dug some worm intending to fish Saturday night, but ended up doing taxi service for kids, so headed down Sunday night. It was very windy with the waves were smashing into the north pier. Cast out into the harbour entrance but bit detection was near impossible due to the wind. So just left the bait out for 5 minutes then wound back in. Had fish every cast, they seem to be feeding hard on the bottom in the coloured water. Had several double hook ups of coalies.

All in all a good night, and the wind was not too cold.

nice one ronnie. the rough sea would have been churning up loads of natural bait for them to feed on  . apparently that's when you stand the best chance of a decent codling too  :P

Yep! Donaghadee should be coming into it's own shortly coming into the Autumn. Will maybe start heading down there for evening sessions, it fishes pretty well upto about Crimbo. I use Santa arriving on the lifeboat as the cut offmark for there!!! :D

Yes mate. Lugworm is king, with Rag a close second.

As Drew says Lug is king and fishing in the evening is the most productive.
