Wicklow Harbour, 30-08-10

Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:12 pm

WiPeople:me

Duration:2pm-8pm

Tide:high 4-30pm approx

Weather:calm, sunny

Bait:rag,mack

Rigs:mini rigs, 2 hook flappers

Results:corkwing wrasse, ballen wrasse, codling, whiting, pollock, coalie, scorpion fish, tompot blenny.

Report:Went to Wicklow Harbour on Monday afternoon as I hadnt been able to get out at the weekend. Calm and sunny conditions all afternoon with quite a few fish being caught on my small rod , a Grauvell Teknos Travel 3000 M, great bite detection, which I bought recently on the site. I blanked on the other rod at distance , unless you count Killoughter dogs  and weedfish. I got fed up hauling in undersea jungle and soon packed that rod away  . The Minis were a dream on the Grauvell Teknos, especially the wrasse ,which are always fun. Even the little ones (which were the ones I was catching  ) can give a decent scrap. The action came in spurts , then died away for a while, but it was enough to keep the interest. Fishface came by to say hello and luckily enough I happened to be catching pollock at the time  . There was hardly anyone else there all afternoon and it was a pleasure to be out (I usually only use that one when I blank :? ). Some Trawlers came into harbour and others passed by. I was amazed at the vast areas they can cover,,,,,,,every inch covered away off into the horizon  . I left just after eight pm as I had run out of bait, unfortunately I missed out on dusk as thats when the bigger pollock are about

Well done Dave mate 8) Great report and pictures. It's amazing the number of different species that are present and can be caught in our piers and harbours, you caught a great variety while out on your session to keep you busy and out of mischeif for a while  good work.
