Red Bay - Wednesday, 25th August

Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:57 am

A re-run of last week with similiar results but weather was better.

Picked up lug in Carrickfergus again and started fishing at 1730ish. The rubbish pile had miraculously re-generated from last week. I give up - why should I tidy up other people's c**p ...... even though I did again!!!).

No keepers this week but almost constant bites and lots of small stuff. I fished for a couple of hours after dark but, if anything, this was less productive than daylight hours. Tip - if, like me, you hang your Coleman on your tripod keep it well away from your line

Duration: 17:30 to 22:30

Weather: bright, calm and dry :)

Bait: lug

Results: 5 codling, 3 pollack and 2 coalfish

Better than a kick in the knackers mate.

Rubbish is bloody awful!

Read your other report too. Seems to fish quite well. Like some other places (Browns bay notably) it's a shame to see that much rubbish lying around. I tidied up BB on one of my last trips out where mackeral bashers had left dozens of hokkai feather packets lying around.

We were near that mark last weekend.

Fishing was good but unspectacular, loads of wrasse, pollack & coalies, a couple of codling as well as flounder, dabs and plaice. Fairly constant bites all day and Daniel got a nice Pollack of about 4lb fishing directly below our feet.

We tried Garron Point briefly but it was very choppy. Red Bay is so much more sheltered.

at least you got out and got a few man :P . like nobuzz said, sometimes fishing just off the edge there can produce some really nice fish at that mark  . but sadly that pile of rubbish in the dip is always there :x mainly empty feather packets and beer cans  sadly the norm for most easy access fishing spots for the summer months :x .
