Headed to Ballycotton last night to try for some mackerel, small fella thought it would be nice to have something to replace his goldfish which had died 2 weeks ago. He didn't really get that a mackerel or a pollack wouldn't like the idea of living in the fish bowl!

After a few hours fishing with the tide and as it headed out, we had nothing to show for it only lumps of seaweed.
Decided to head to a nearby beach where we'd had some success before for flatties, but only had a few nibbles on the bait. Suppose really need to bring lug. Tried a spot of spinning for bass, but reckon wasn't getting a good enough cast.

Macks are scarce at the moment in east cork, hopefully they might come back in a few weeks for one final feed.You might want to take the kiddie down to knockadoon pier for some wrasse or pollock

thanks Tom, have never tried there, will definitely give it a go.

the mackerel are gone funny every where i think.2-3 days u will get em solid then the next 3-4 days u get notin but the odd one.dont no wat it is. wind constantly changing directions.its been at the northerly end this year.hard to beat the south direction
