Well done eskimo at least you got something for your efforts on a pleasant night  - I blanked there back in August during daylight and some grotty weather. Like you say it does look great with the surf so it should fish well in certain conditions. How far were you casting out to get the dogs as it's pretty clean ground on the sand? Think a few guys have reported ray off there in the past 8)

Often passed the cove at Aughris. Lots of kelp and big stone cobbles which make a hell of a noise when there's a surf breaking. Haven't tried getting down to it but imagine it would be dodgy in the wet!

Cheers & best of luck if you give it a shot

hi mac d ,we fished where the small river enters the sea ,casting not too far into 3rd or 4th wave,no other bites only that of small doggies, maybe on a calmer sea it might produce ray as you say, will give it a go again soon, iwonder whats the best time low water up or high tide?

to be honest you can count the times I've fished it on one hand - usually annually unfortunately :( Had flounder and trout off there near high water, in either darkness or early morning. That's been in spring and summer. Rarely has it been calm when I've gone there. Gave it a bash last Christmas in daylight during that very cold spell and only succeeded in shivering off some calories  Needs some more time investing to suss it out - haven't got round to fishing it at LW. Some of the Sligo regulars on the forums probably have a better idea :?:

Nice fishing lads. Myself and Yorkshireman fished it on Saturday night the surf was massive far to big for any ray. I've had a painted ray from there while fishing for trout a few years ago, conditions were very calm that night. I tried fishing the surf for bass on saturday but only managed a flounder. Mike had a flounder and a few dogs. The dogs seemed to come on the feed a just at low water. It's just coming into the best time to fish that beach. The next few weeks should be good enought there. I can't seem to connect with any turbot there this year seems to be very few about. In other years you could bank on getting at least a small one from there. If the surf calms down a bit the beach should fish well this week.

Fished it on saturday night fished the tide down only flounder and dogs going there tomorrow to give it a go from the rocks.
Every time i have fished there's always a good surf running i suppose its a classic surf beach not much depth and always choppy. it seems to fish well some times i have been plagued with sea trout on one occasion lost count of the amount i had and Kerry Man bags up every time he is there.
