Sat Aug 14, 2010 10:32 am

People: Myself & Pat

Duration: 8 Hours total

Tide: Stranding & Filling

Weather: Downpours, Windy & Sunny

Bait: Lug, Limpet & Spinner

Rigs: One Hook Flapper

Results: Myself total: 28 Ballan, 4 Corkwing Wrasse, 1 Sea Scorpion, 1 Coalie, 2 Mackerel & 1 Mullet. Pat : Plenty of Ballan & Corkwing Wrasse.

Report:

3rd, 5th, 7th,11th & 12th August

Between work & car trouble I managed to fit in a few quick short sessions over the past two weeks as I haven’t been out in ages  . Although the weather & wind were against us most of the days, we did manage to catch plenty of Ballan to just over 3.5lb :D & Corkwing Wrasse to keep us busy with myself catching a Sea Scorpion a new species for the list 8) .
But the highlight was Pat hooking into a lovely Mullet around the 6lb mark which he almost landed until the last minute when the hook popped out & this happened twice to him  .
It was the first time I’ve seen Mullet been caught from this mark whilst bottom fishing for Wrasse. Tried a bit of spinning but could only get a short cast due to the wind but did catch two Mackerel for the dinner  .
The tide was on the fill so we had to move to a different mark that we seen Mullet before, packed up the gear & made our way over to see if any were about.
Arrived fifteen minutes later got set up, very quiet at the start then the Mullet turned up in numbers feeding near the surface, so I got myself into position & dropped the bait down the where they were feeding but no joy, but then I got a pluck the mullet was more interested in my lead weight than the lug  , so I reeled in & attached a four inch bit of line to a hook & tied it to the top of the weight & bang missed My first one, luckily didn’t have to wait long as another slightly bigger one went for the bait & took off like a satellite 8) , put up a great scrap but getting her landed was tough going as I had to get her up a four foot lift, but with the help of a wave I got landed safely Happy Days was over the moon to finally catch one :D , a few quick pics & back she went to fight another day. What a buzz to catch one although not very big still a Mullet & one for the list, think I might be back after them again very soon with my flyrod:wink:
