People:Me
Duration:7:30pm - 10:30pm
Tide:Rising
Weather:Cloudy
Bait:Lug
Rigs:Float
Results: 19 small pollock and coalies, 1 pollock of approx 3lbs.
Report: After work dug some lug and headed to Donaghadee. When I arrived there was a band playing on the end of the pier and they where showing people around the lifeboat. I got setup fishing over the back of the pier, and for the first seven casts I had a fish everytime. Then it started to slow down. Around 9:30pm I was watching the float and it was being jiggled about by small fish when it just disappeared and when I wound in I thought a fish had taken me to the weeds, but the line was moving sideways through the water. I knew there was something heavy on the line, after several minutes I got it to the surface and could see a good sized pollock, which I had to lift up the back wall as I could not wind it up using the reel. This was my biggest pollock ever, and we estimated it to be around the 3lb mark.
Good old Donaghadee, always throwing up surprises.
