Report: headed out for a session up to a north coast beach, arrived and got set up fishing into that magical period of dusk just as it began to get dark, first few baits were coming back stripped but no weed at least, at this point I realised that most of my worms were on the small side, so mick kindly donated a handfull of great big fat juicy lug

, first chuck with these got a bit of interested as the rod started bouncing, tightened in and fish on

after a short but stubbern fight I thought I had lost the fish as all went slack so I wound like the clappers to gather as much line as possible, just in case

and as soon as the fish reached shallow water and found mick wading out to meet it he started thrashing again, all I could see in my night light was splashing and the sounds of mick shouting 'its a good one' soon had it beached and weighed in at 5lb 5oz, 60cm I know thats no monster for most of you guys fishing the east coast, but up here thats a whopper and a pb for me that will be very hard to beat

. ABout 15 min after that mick landed one of just under 4 lb and I managed another of 2lb 8 oz AT this stage I may as well admit I was jumping about the beach like child with excitment
Sorry about poor quality of photos it was camer phone at night as I had forgotten to bring my camera
