People: Me
Duration: Sunday 5pm - 10pm, Monday 6pm-11pm
Tide: In about 10 - 11pm Saturday,
Weather: Westerly wind, very mild, no swell
Bait: Ragworm/Crab
Rigs: pulley and clipped down
Results: 6 good smooth hounds and 1 bass
Report: After a few years away from sea fishing I finally made a return. Headed off home to Wexford having tuned my reels in the fields of Kilkenny.
I fished both sessions at the same mark at a leisurely pace, fishing at distance. On the first night I took a lovely smooth hound who used the tide well and put up a great fight. A second smooth hound followed and then I called it an evening.
On the Monday night I fished again at range while and I set up an old rod for my brother to give bait fishing a go. He caught a nice little bass on his first cast, which was returned unharmed. I followed with a lovely another lovely smooth hound minutes later. 3 more followed before I packed up.
Incidentally there were lots of guys spinning for mackerel but only a few isolated specimens were caught.
All in all a decent few nights and Im delighted to be back on the sea.
