people :me an my brother
time:9.00pm-4.00am
tide:dropping
rigs:pulleys
bait: rag,sandeel,peeler
result:6 pup hounds about 1lb/2lb one hound 3.5lb and one weighed in at jus over 7lb.... 6 dogs.. 1 plump codling and a sea scorpian..
With all this talk of smoothound lately i decided that it was time to try catch a specie that i had never caught in 12 years of sea angling

and got the brother and headed down to wexford to a mark kindly given to me from a man on this sight (no mentioning names)

... I arrived at the beach about 8.30 and was set up and bait in the water by 9 and i must say couldn have been better weather wise it was beautiful. Fishing was slow for the first few hours with only a few dogs been had by midnight but come one in the morning the bites started to appear and i had my first ever hound

not big only about a pound but it was a good sign of them being in the area.. Just after that i latched into a nicer fish this one broke the sand and i was a tad sight more pleased

this one went on the scales and weighed in a respectable 3.5lb.. The next hour or two was spent pulling in pup hounds and dogs and it all went quiet about 3am so much so that i was thinkin of packing up already happy with myself so decided to launch a big peeler out far and sit down for a smoke. I only sat down on my seat box and leaned for smoke when a noise appered suddenly i looked up and turned on my headlight to see my kompressor sport almost leave my tripod and fly down the beach

Grabbing the rod and leaning in i knew this was a nice fish and after a couple of min a hound came flapping up onto the sand this time topping the scales at over 7lb

I set up a match rod with ragworm to be rewarded with a nice fat codling and a sea scorpian before i left so all in all a nice session
ps im trying to upload phots but it keeps telling me the images are to big
