Hard luck - would have thought the fishing would be much better than that, especially with the full moon tides over the last week - I have planned a week over there myself for the end of August-early September - I hope it improves.

Hard luck scotty. I'm sorry to hear that things didn't go well for you on your trip. From my own experience of fishing the Waterville area I would have to say that there is some very good fishing on offer down there but I am only speaking for myself and in relation to my own time spent down there fishing.
I have had some brilliant sessions out fishing all around that area, mainly in the winter mind you, so perhaps scotty you have just been unlucky which is a shame, espicially when you've travelled all those miles to go fishing down there and when you get there the fishing doesn't produce good things for you. Hope you have better luck next time

Same here Frank, fingers crossed. It's been ages since I was out plugging and lure fishing of bass, I can't wait 8)

Just back from Waterville and spent alot of time up at the Golf course strand snorkeling, saw lots of sand eels and bass hitting them in the evening and lots of crabs around the small reef. I have fished there many times for bass with no luck but you cannot expect results everytime you go. There are many great shore marks over towards Hogs Head and the fact there was so much bait fish in the bay may have taken the Bass out into the middle of it. The Gannets were feeding all day out there, we swam through a large shoal of mack at one point.
Dont give up.
