Well, I've had my second fishing trip with my girl friend this summer.
We fished the East pier in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday 25th June 2005.
High tide was at about 3 in the afternoon.
We started fishing at about 11.
We started fishing into the sea ward side of the pier at the elbow where a small jetty sticks out into the sea.
Conditions were not comfortable so we went to the top of the pier and fished into the harbour.
We were floating rag on a size 1/0 hook starting with a depth of about 4 foot and increasing it as the tide rose ending up with a depth of about 8 or 9 foot.
It was a dull, warm and very breezy day.
The water was fairly calm in the harbour.
The girl friend caught 7 fish and I caught 4.
I caught 4 small pollack; all under a pound.
She caught 4 small pollack, 2 small wrasse and 1 lovely sized wrasse that was between 2 1/2 to 3 pounds.
I couldn't believe it.
I turned around to look at her only to see her rod buckled over like the letter n.
At first I was sure she was caught in kelp.
Then I heard the spool giving off line.
I said "are you in?"
"Yeah" she said with a smile the width of her face which was now glowing like a fluorescent light bulb.
I had to land it for her as she thought the rod was going to snap.
I should invest in a drop net.
Anyway, it will be a while before I live this one down.
We finished up trying the sea ward side again right down the bottom or foot of the pier and of course she caught a pollack and I caught nothing.
I should have pictures in my personal gallery soon.

Consider your self lucky that your girlfriend has an interest in fishing as its good to have a mutual interest especially if you feel like traveling away for the weekend and fancy a bit of fishing as well.
Teaching my girlfriend how to flick a fly and she already has the technqiue took 2 hours and already can cast straight etc now the problem is she wants to have that old one last cast........................
No not the sage.....................

Neilus - Glad you included the last 4 words of that first sentence !
Sorry - no offence intended .
Yep - and teach her to do the unhooking as well - otherwise you'll spend all day dealing with hers and never get around to catching your own . Well , that's my experience anyway .
cheers
