I'm still very much so an amateur to the sea fishing game but hopefully as i gradually build up my gear and experience things will start to come together a bit more..
I arrived at Brompton (Bangor West) with my new 12ft beach rod at around 11:30am, i had no intention of any bait fishing as i've next to no experience tying up and using rigs etc but that will come. I went onto the "Mackerel" rocks with the intention of trying to catch exactly that, the place was empty but soon a couple more people arrived and tried fishing off the old disused pier with no luck. There was quite a strong wind got up for a time but it was still pleasantly warm, a few more people arrived and left without anything, i myself was having no luck with a line of small lures being cast about 100 foot out. High tide was about 12:30pm. Sticking with the same tactics i moved down a few dozen yards resulting in one small Pollack close in on the edge of a ridge, always nice not to blank anyway. No sign of any mackeral, sandeels etc no birds diving, this time next month will be a different story!

I went down to Brompton on Sunday evening - just after the heavy rain - hoping to coax out a mackerel on the fly. I have to say I was appaled with what I saw there. The rain had overflowed the storm drains - there was raw sewage flowing out of the pipe in Brompton bay. The smell was horrible and I would not have liked to even put a line in the water.
As an ex resident of Bangor I can't believe that the council and the loacl residents allow this to continue - it is a definate health hazard.
The bay was brown with all manner of undesirabe debris floating around - I has put me off fishing there ever again.
Be careful if you were considering taking any fish home from the area.
