RESULT... my daughter has been bending my ear for some time now to take her fishing.. so this evening we headed off to my local ray mark which is probaly the safest mark i know.. so i packed the car with the rods and gear while she packed her,, ipod,phone,cds,car chargers for all her stuff and food for herself.. anyway got to the mark about 7.30pm. we only indended to fish for two hours.. so set up the rods casted mine out first and then baited up meghans,,,only casted it out when she ask could she reel it in again, then the questions started,, dad the rod is bending,dad the rod is moving,dad how do you know when there a fish on,,, dad,, dad,, dad... not long after that her rod tip bounced,, a ray bite,, now meghan there is a fish on.. at first i broke the grip leads free for her and then she took over but could only manage a few turns on the reel,, here dad you do it... a cracking ray was landed,,,, now dad wheres your fish she said.... photo taken and off the ray went,,,, so we sat down and had a chat.... just as the time was near i got a little ray landed... so all in all a nice two hours with my daughter and hopefully maybe a new angler has been born.....

Great stuff Meghan! When Herself and Meself go out in the boat, she always land more - and bigger - fish than I do. Whats the secret? Pheromones or what?

Mind you I spend more time untangling rigs for her than I do fishing .....

same here guys its got to the stage that my wee girl says.......daddy first to get a fish gets a fiver, and before i even have a rod set up she is pulling wee puckers up from down the side of the pier and i'm a fiver down again

Nice report Alan, well done to the both you. Meghan looks so happy in the photo with her catch and so she should be, she did brilliant. She must take after her 'old man' where the fishing is concerned. I'm glad the father and daughter bonding fishing session produced good results for you's. The only thing is Alan, now that she has cuaght something she will be pestering you to go again, buy ear plugs or ear defenders I think your gonna need them!! "Dad, can we go out fishing again" and after she has said it about a hundred times you'll have to give in and take her again just to get peace
