new wrasse mark, finally one near home!

Wed Jun 30, 2010 3:44 pm

myself, jason and james had a bass session planned for monday, so after digging about a hundred jug we hit a beach mark that has produced a few in the past, but when we got there the weed was horrid, with us all losing rigs to rafts of weed in the first hour, and with the weed problem getting worse, we decided to cut our losses and hit a spot where i had heard we could get a good mix of species :D we got there inside an hour and got set up,first cast i had a ballen wrasse, second cast i had a ballen and a corkwing, then all hell broke loose, with fish for us all every cast :D :D and a fine mixture of fish too,we had too, ballen, corkwing, dabs, dogs, pollock, rockling, big spider crab and big edible crab(yummy)and a lost thornie! a big thanks to dertimined dan who gave us this mark,it was a cracker! :D none of the fish were huge, but quantity made up for quality. :D a most enjoyable session was had by all, with jason having his first ever dab,and james(a newcomer to sea angling) having his first ballen and corkwing wrasse and his first spider crab! 8) never seen a lad get so excited about crabs! but then they do taste devine!!

Well done fella's - that was a bumper of a session. You's were kept busy hauling that lot in, that's a great mixture of species you's caught.
Nice corkwing wrasse.
Congratulations to Jason for getting his first dab and to James for getting a few new species to add to his list – brilliant results for a newcomer to sea angling!
It's a shame the bass mark was full of weed and you's couldn't get fishing it longer, never mind, you'll get one eventually Noel - I know you will 8)
I'm glad that you have found a mark that's abit closer to home for you to go too, anything where that saves you having to travel as far is fantastic never mind one with as of good quality of fishing on offer like this one seems to have - I'm sure you'll be returning back there very soon for more.
Hope you enjoyed your crab, I haven't had any breakfast yet and I’m getting hungry thinking about it
Great report and pictures as always :D
