People:me tom mati
Duration:5-7pm
Tide:rising
Weather:sunny, fresh SE wind
Bait:bread
Rigs:float
Results:2 mullets, brownie, schoolie
Report:Tom and Mati were my companions for the day. we couldn't decide where to go. commercial lake stocked with rainbows or Avoca. we picked Avoca. to be honest I didn't expect much. we've found small shoal of mullets close to Arklow harbour. the bread on the float went into the water...we had only only succesfull bite

after the long fight, the fish ended up in 5 years old anglers hand! The fish was about 4-5lb. given the mullet's slow growth, this particular fish on the pic below is at last double Mati's age. we were to messy with taking photos, and relasing the fish, that's why we had to move to different location to continue fishing. in the new spot we had many bites, but we managed to catch only one small fish. again 5 years old had no difficulties with that (with my little help). as usual we put the fish back to the water, which was as much intresting for mati as catching. Happiness in Mati's eyes- priceless

I also had surprise 2day. brownie and bass schoolie went on bread

after this session , I think I'm going to change my mind about difficulties with catching mullets. Tom was a photographer this time

Fantastic fishing for the wee man, and to see someone so young learning how to return fish properly to the water(not worrying about getting his feet wet) can only set an example to others. Thats him hooked for life I reckeon.

Ah! Arklow! that's where it all started for me way back then. i never visit without at least taking a spin down the docks and beach no matter how short a time i'm there, even without the rod, great memories of first fish and many more since!!
Great report and great to see the tightlines and the next generation still catching, and releasing to catch again.
I was down on the last day of the bass restrictions and the conditions were 100% where i drove to and i just wished it was the next day!!

That's fishing!

Some great photos lads. We tried mullet fishing once and the seagull ate all the bread

, so we decided then it wasn't for us but it looks to be great fun and in those famous words, if a five year old can catch them ................................

Outfished by a 5 year old

. Brilliant photos and lovely mullet too. The photo of the young lad releasing the mullet is brilliant. It should be on the cover of one of the angling magazines.
