Weather: Scorcher
Bait: Feathers, lures and mack strip
Rigs: Spinning light gear three and two hook flappers
Results: Pollack and mackrel
Report: Had a stroke of luck over the weekend. The missus had wanted to go to “the beach” on Saturday, but cried off sick. Got home on Friday to be told the bad news. I asked her where me tent was and within half an hour was on the road to Clare.
Set up base of operations at O’Connor’s camp site in Doolin at about 9am and immediately hit the pier with spinning rod just as the tide was dropping. Bang, bang, bang, hooked up with Pollack weighin’ in about the two pound mark. Two hours later hot the sack. Six of the blighters marked up to me name.
Decided that night to engage in a spot of pier to pier fishin'.
Saturday on the road again at about 9am after a breakfast roll and a cuppa coffee in Lisdoonvarna.
Fished down along the piers to Doonbeg and was pickin’ up Pollack be the new time. Saturday had amassed another 12 to me name.
On Sunday, struck out at about 11am and fished Poulcraveen up to 4pm, three more Pollack and six mackerel.
Great weekend fishin’ in Clare and when I got home the missus told me she was feelin’ a lot better.
