Weather:muggy but dry

Bait:all sorts

Rigs:god knows

Report:well this was round ii of the galway bay sac comp, gurteen was the origional venue, but as it was not fishing well,a new venue was picked.we were set up and ready to go by the whistle at 6.15,and within the first fifteen minutes yanto was into the first thornie of the evening,a nice fish of 43cm,a quick pic and the fish was returned, then jakes was in with another thornie of 39cm and soon after that saltydog got one,not sure of the size, but this was looking like a great session was about to happen, 8) but like many other sessions, all went quiet for a while, bar the small mackerel shoals that were trying to tempt us by breaking out right in front of us,chrisfeeney landed one as he retrived his rig, :roll:pity they don't count.but soon saltydog was into another thornie, and just up from him kaylemf had a doggie, but things went quiet again except for shanes mackerel which, like chris, was caught while bringing in a rig.now the crabs had been stripping the bait like crazy, and the midges decided to try and strip the humans of their blood! you were right peter! :D thankfully i had my midge net,but there was a mad dash by the other lads to conor, who posessed some mad elexier, that drove the midges away,(think he charged a fiver a squirt) well time was passing and i was getting worried,my chances of a result slipping away! but then my goldie gave a slow tug and i was in,a nice thornie of 52cm,game on! :D second!! but then mick, who had been showing off, trying to hit a boey on the island across from us,suddenly got a good knock and duly landed a fine huss, 86cm,soon after the final whistle went and the comp was over.final result was 1ST saltydog, two thornies 100pts,2ND mick curtin, bullhuss 91pts, 3RD me 57pts. juniors 1ST kalemf one doggie 40pts.well done to all, roll on ballyreen!anybody that has pics please add them

Well done Gents, not a bad outcome by any means, pity about the midges but that's the price you have to pay for calm days. The magic potion wasn't 'Autan' or was it? Used the stuff always years ago in Hungary to great effect, where swarms of midges literally have darkened the skies.

was waiting for someone to mention this, this mark has been published in two mags, that i know of,irish angler, and total sea fishing, pictures and all, this was a public comp and all lads that were there had fished it many times before, its a well known public mark,well...to us west coast lads anyway.

dont know if i would say it produced the goods 4 blanks out of 10 would be similar to what you would get out on gurteen

4 comp blanks in a row for myself now - the golf bag will be dusted down shortly
