Beara delight

Thu May 27, 2010 1:19 pm

An invitation from frequent sea angling visitor Roger Ball brought me to the Beara this week. Weather was glorious and we had some excellent Pollack, Wrasse, and Mullet fishing. On the first night I stayed with Paul and Anne Harris of Dromagowlane House, http://www.dromagowlanehouse.com/, who specialise in sea angling breaks. Catching up with the latest angling news, a nine pound bass caught on bread flake, I headed off to meet Roger first thing Monday morning.

Over the next three days we rock hopped to some excellent wrasse and pollack fishing, and I enjoyed a grand morning being introduced to open sea mullet angling by Roger. He learned how to fish mullet as a youngster in Cornwall and hasn't looked back since. Roger made it look easy, and he is a good teacher as you can see below.

just a quick update - the mackerel are now showing up at Dursey, best to use something with plenty of 'flash' in it such as a spoon or those Xmas tinsel feathers.
