Mon May 24, 2010 2:08 pm

People:self, gara30 and herself

Duration:12 - 6

Tide:high about 1ish

Weather:sun with light breeze

Bait: jelly worms and mackerel

Rigs:various

Results: mackerel, pollock and pouting

Report:
such a nice day and sat at home with herself, and gara30 and none of us wanted to just stay in.. then herself said ah sure why not go fishing... before she even finished that sentence i had already planned where and what to target.. so a quick rummage through my bag to get rid of all the big leads 4oz+ and for some reason it didnt weigh much after that.. spinnin rods were packed and on the road we were, stopped of at her house to pick up her fishin gear :D and back on the road.. then we remembered.. oh breakfast.. so a quick stop for rub and on the road again...
finally made it to the mark to find it fairly packed with macky bashers and a few bottom fishing.. so a walk back and forth to find a suitable spot for us which left us fishing at a height above the water..
i set myself up first to show the other 2 how to fish with jelly worms, cast out and let it drop to the bottom.. slow retrieve and bang.. fish on.. to the amazement of the people around me too.. ( i dont think they were having any luck at that stage) a nice pollock of about 1lbs, released it.. to the amazement of everyone around   and set up the other two.. fishin was quiet for most the day with the odd bite here and there, and herself got snagged a few times.. i managed to get a mackerel so it was a change of tactics for for the 3 of us, i went with leadheads and gara30 went with the float and herself fished the bottom.. she got snagged a few more times and i had to pull the line out if the weeds for her and on the hook was a little pouting...
i had a nice strip of mackerel on the lead head and could feel the bites as i was reeling in. cast out and let it drop all the way to the bottom and slowly began to retrieve then bang... a nice pull of a good fish that was diving for the weed.. and it and a good 4lbs+ pollock.. this was going to be dinner.. i could see everyone on the rocks looking up wondering how i was catching them as all they were bringing were the odd mackerel ..
fishing went quiet as the tide was dropping so we decided to call it a day, but a quick stop in monks bar for a pint before the journey home...

that was her happy..

Nice day for fishing all right that new spinning rod of yours is getting a good work over you should put up a review on it ;) ;) there was a trawler there last week looked like he was working the _ _ _ _ _ _ patch before coming inland within a few hundred yards and trawling all the way along the coast turning in at the lighthouse into the Bay.....

yeah, and what a difference  , noticed this myself after my annual toolbox clearout, especially all the 12oz sinkers which I tend to forget in the box make up the weight of a small child  looks you've had a lovely trip and a good result on the new setup again, moreover, it's always nice to show the MB's how it's done properly 8)

It was chaos down there, we managed to get a bit of space by spreading the rods out and fishing as far to the left as you can go. It didnt stop some of the tinsel tossing brothers casting over us.
Still not much going on, we had a few pollack, mackerel and a conger, first one of the year.
It isnt a great mark to fish at the weekend but with the sunshine I figured deep water was the only place to be.

Nice going ladies and gents.
Good weather, catching fish and a cool beer on the way home - sounds like the perfect day to me.
