People: Me

Duration: 9pm to 11pm

Tide:rising

Weather: calm warm, actually it was bloody lovely

Bait: none

Rigs: pike spinners

Results: 20 pollock, largest about 30cm.

Report:
Had to travel to donegal unexpected, so just threw the first rod and tackle box into the car, arrived on the peir that evening to find one man trying his luck, when asked how things were going his reply was 'they are away on holiday'.

never the one to take another mans advise I decided to give a rock mark a bash, took the rod and tackle box down to realise it was the pike tackle box I had, only had one set of feathers in it and loads of pike jigs and spinners, managed to get something together as I was determine to get the line wet regardless.

First cast I was been watched by the lone peir wall man, which always makes me nervous as its the first cast and I usually do something daft like forget to open the bale arm and end up hooking myself, anyway first cast travelled great hit the water just at the ridge waited about three seconds to let it drop then closed the bale arm, and BANG the first fish of the night, the dude on the peir just shouts over 'well damn that I'm away to play golf', got the wee pollock in and he measured in at 15cm's, so quick snap incase he was to be the only one and he went back in to grow up.

managed to land 13 from the rock mark but as the sun lowered in the sky and the tide rose, I moved off the rocks for safety and back to the peir wall, being the git I am, I couldn't go home with such an unlucky number of fish, so had another few casts from the pier, first cast reeling in I was convinced it was my first mackeral of the year, it was the typical fight from a macckie, got it in close enough to see that I had four small pollack on line and each wanting to go a different direction, so mo mackeral yet, managed to bring my 13 to 20 at which point a retired for the night happy with the knowledge that all 20 will be there another night but hopefully a bit bigger.

I have a few pics to upload later
