north conamara 22may 2010

Sun May 23, 2010 11:40 am

people.. myself and mr.sun...

bait..rag,peelers,suid and razors...

tide ... full at 1.23pm.

duration.. noon to 5pm...

After having a few pints for the birthday was in dublin so went of to get some rag and peelers... hard work with a hang over.. back home to galway and headed out the next day.. i was hoping to get my wish list finished. but it was not to be... set up 2 beach rods and 1 float rod... things where busy with a couple of flounders at start but then it went quite.... so just lazyed in the sun for awhile .... about 4pm the rods where getting very hard knocks not flounder bits but every time i hit in to them nothing.. so it lefted my woundering what was there.. soon after my penn rod got a go knock so lefted it there to see what might happen and not after it was arch over fish on for sure... struck into it and belive me there was some wait on it the rod was doubled.. but could still feel a fish throwing his head... so got down to work to land this.... when it broke the surface it was a nice turbot to 3pound and just under the surface i could see something else.... when i got it in nearer it was a spider crab the biggest i have ever seen it must have been a least 3 foot accross from leg to leg... but it just droped off at the edge... would have loved to land it for a photo...........THATS ALL FOLKS,,,,,, as bugs bunny would say........

There was a nice Brill caught of the beach there last weekend not as nice as your one mind  8) the elongated shape gives it away a 3lb Turbot would be a lot more round in shape....handy tip for checking in future the skin on the Brill is smooth where the Turbot will be bumpy...

stonking turbo alan, well done man 8) apparently those spider crabs are very tasty, and the meat and innards from the main body make a great rubby dubby for rock fishing
