Sat May 15, 2010 5:51 pm

People- My Grandad, Myself and my little cusin Flynn

Weather- Not too bad

Duration- 45 mins

Tides- Pushing

Rigs- Macky Feathers

Baits- none

Results- Me- about 50 or 60 Coalies
Flynn- about 40 or so
Grandad- 2 Coalies

Report-
After a trip out in the boat intending on fishing for Wrasse and Congers, etc things did not go as planned, due to very strong tides we couldnt fish properly, tried a number of different spots and couldnt fish properly anywhere, so we got back to the harbour and i noticed a lot of smallish coalies in around the boats, so we fished there for a while with the macky traces, first go we got a coalie, followed by more, so i let Flynn try the wee boat rod and i got the spinning rod out and began using it with 6 feathers, started to get 3, 4, and 5 at a time some times and other times 1 0r two every chuck, all in all even though the boat fishing didnt go as planned the shore fishing saved us all a blank!! Biggest fish was 39cm and all the rest 25cm upwards. :D :D

yea, surprized me how we spent a few hours out in the boat and got not 1 bite and yet in the harbour there were so many coalies, just proves that 45 mins in the right place is worth more than 3 hours in the wrong place :D

can be hard some times, but if you focus on tryiong different baits you normally pick up an odd fish, normally smaller hooks about 4s or so are the best and lug is deadly when bait fishing, also slack water seems to produce most fish, if the tide is pushing or droppiong fish in behind the boats, you should start to pick up some fish.
