Jakes and myself slipped across the border undetected and met the guys who were already setup with Turbot for peterw fished a dropping tide and a few hrs of the rise with everyone getting Flounder and Turbot including a beaut of a Turbo for thescotsman and a cracker of a Flounder for Jakes....
Mayo 06.05.10Myself and vinnycorrigan headed across the border to meet up with two matchmen for a session Flounder to 40cm, some nice Turbot, a couple of Sea Trout and Dogs accounted for the species.
Clare 07.05.10Headed over to Clare for a session with a matchman who knows Clare like the back of his hand. We setup at the first venue had a few casts in close i tried a bait at distance but the NNE wind meant there was no movement on the water so we broke camp and headed for a 2nd venue bit more movement here we fished it hard with Flounder and Turbot showing. Much obliged to my fishing companion for sharing several marks and tactics over an enjoyable day.
Galway 09.05.10met up with corbeire and gfkelly1969 for a session on Sunday report here:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=27791Galway 10.05.10vinnycorrigan and myself headed off into North Connemara for a full days fishing. We made our way to a mark that produces a good variety of species. We setup rods to fish the bottom for Ray etc and started spinning and vinny tried float fishing also. We had pollack dogs and just as the light was going i set up a Conger rod as there's some beauts at this spot. The rod wasn't in the water more than 10mins or so when the rachet went. Picked it up struck nice bend in the rod fish on i could see a dark backed fish coming to the surface i was sure it was a conger vinny had postioned himself to grab it... its a big Huss vinny said as it came to the surface. Vinny duly tailed him he weighed in at 9lbs on the nose. Vinny then decided to drop down a mack head on a big hook to see if he could bag one and sure enough about 40mins later he got a good rattle i went down to tail his one a fine female 7lbs.4ozs his first ever congrats again buddy

as we were taking a pic of her my rod went again but it let go half way up. We packed up and left happy men it was slow enough for this spot but the Huss made up for it...
