People:Me

Duration:12 - 4

Tide:Low

Weather:Beautiful

Bait:Rag, Squid, mackeral

Rigs:2 and 3 Hook Flappers

Results:Turbot and Flounder

Report:Headed up the coast planning to fish a rock mark hoping for some early Wrasse. This was quickly nipped in the bud (sorry to use a gardening term) due to the waves breaking over the mark   Thought the calm weather over the past week would let me fish it. A new planned had to be hatched. I headed to a down the coast a bit for a bit of beach fishing. I was hoping for a Turbot from this mark. I was fishing for about 40 mins when I was reeling in and saw a flattie in the surf I got my hopes up of another Species for this year only to have them dashed another wee flounder. Well at least the blank was saved. Shortly after I reeled in again and another flattie was in the surf it was smaller than the first and looked a little rounder :D :D Happy days mission accomplished a wee Turbot. I fished on for another while but nothing much was happening. I decided to upsticks and head on down the road a bit more and try to find a few wrasse but no such luck. Nice to get out in nice sunny weather none the less.

yeah jonny, when the flounder hatch from the egg they are symmetrical with an eye on each side. but as they grow feeding on plankton one eye migrates around the head to join the other on the coloured side. this is normally on the right, but under a quarter of the hatch develop to the left for some reason and thats how you get the lefties   . on even rarer circumstances they can develop with the colour on both sides so there's no white underneath   . i think eric had one of those a while back in a shore report.
