Well i rushed out the door with the old man to go to curraghbinny to get a quick session in. Got my lug, lead and two hook flappers. When i got there the weather was nice , bit too bright. First cast got snagged

German guy started fishing beside us and within ten mins he had a fine sized dogfish! For the rest of the session not even seaweed was caught

What am i doing wrong:S As much as i enjoy fishing im near to giving up

Keep the faith my friend, Mitch gave some very good advice there and remember this lark aint always easy but when you hook into a big fish all the blanks and fruitless sessions are imideatly forgotten, good luck fortune favors the brave

i ran into a trio of anglers down there a few days running recently. They said it was their usual venue and that they fished it a few times a week all winter and spring.
I couldnt but notice that the only bait they brought was razor. And they certainly outfished me using crab and mackerel
try half sandeels for the doggies if thats what you wanted

i think the advice so far is good ,what size hooks where you using?if your getting bites and no hookups downsize! also bring some snacks and a nice warm drink then you wont have to go home cos your starving most of my best sessions dont start till dusk even if i,m bringing one of the sprogs

tides heve a big influence on fish activity so try to find a local mark that fishes on the drop and one that fishes on the rise, if all else fails you could come to wickla the fish jump outa the water on to your hooks up here

i wish
