East Cork 26/03/10

Tried for bass on lures at the usual place i always try but no sign of any yet one or two fish moving but maybe flounder, mullet, sea trout so hopefully with the few warm days they'll be there before the end of the easter two weeks off

At least you got out there to give it a shot.As you say things should pick up big time in the next few weeks,but word of warning when it does guard you're specific details as id say there will be a race to any marks named openly once they start to show especially down this neck of the woods ,sorry off in a tangent again

Ya good idea that i think including you and about 3 others know exactly where i fish usually theres sometimes others there but not many, so hopefully it'll be quiet around there, if you interested in heading out some day/evening around you know where for a shot at the bass drop me a pm.

I was at a certain East Cork mark today (I was just out for a walk not fishing), and couldn't believe the amount of rubbish which has been washed ashore along the length of the strand (particularly towards the east side). Literally thousands of plastic bottles and empty butter tubs it was shocking to see. Interestingly some of the items seemed to originate from Britain / the North as they had printed prices in pounds on them. Does anyone know why there is such an accumulation of washed ashore rubbish, where does it come from?

Ah the butter tubs are back,allegedly their origin came from the ship that lost a few containers a while back on the south coast.They had disappeared but looks like their back big time,makes you wonder even if they get washed back out to sea,they must still be floating around for a long long time.Unfortunately plastic bottles are always about lack of respect for the sea and constent dumping of even a few bottles etc adds up.The only thing was do people remember all the nappies that got washed up a few years back,they came in handy,well the dry ones did

So that explains it, those containers must of been full to the brim of butter! There was a fair amount of nappies on display today also

It was a container full of empty butter cartons destined for the uk market, they have managed to spread ( no pun intended) from fastnet all the way to carnsore point, with the main concentration around youghal to dungarvan.
Trouble is they could be a round for months unless cleared by a good northerly wind( which is due this week.
