West Clare 7/03/2010

People: Me & Bassmania

Duration: 4.30pm till 10pm

Tide: Incoming

Weather: Breezy and very cold

Bait: Lug & Sandeel

Rigs: Various

Results: First Blank of 2010

Report: Set off from Limerick today at around 1.30ish and headed straight to dig some Lug, quality of the lug wasn't great but got enough to head to our mark. Set up 2 rods each fishing at various distances. Usually this mark throws up some big surf but the sea today was fairly flat. We thought that we would get some flatties. Head was not the best today after festivities last night so the first cast was left to sit until the lug nearly walked off the hook :D :D
Got one good rattle early on but struct into it too soon and nothing came of it. We fished and fished and fished and at the last cast we got one more rattle, resisted the temptation to strike into it but nothing delveoped
We eventually decided that enough was enough, we had tried everything from cocktails to varying the distances but it was just not meant to be :( Roll on the next outing :D :D its amazing how the salt air clears any groginess :D :D

Regards

Seamus

The grogy head didn't help but what was more frustrating was that we tried everything and nothing came of it, but sure thats the joy of fishing :D :D :D

Hi Seamus, I did a couple of nights over the spring tides out that way, had a couple of small flounder, some rockling and a schoolie, all on the dropping tide, schoolie on razor everything else on lug. There were a few other bass came out last week biggest around 3lb but still not much happening.

We were hopefull because we met 3 other lads fishing and they had a bass, hopefully with the warmer weather things will pick up. Might try in the next few weeks to see if the ray are around.

Seems to have been a poor day in most places yesterday? Worst thing about a blank is you just want to get back out!

Have to agree all you want to do after a blank is to get out again
