People: North Down Beachcasters SAC, 7 members.
Duration: 10/02/10 - 1730-2230hrs
Tide: HW 2117hrs
Weather: NE 5mph with a clear skies, very cold.
Bait: Lug, rag and fish
Rigs: Mostly flappers with size 1 to 4 hooks
Results: 126fish - Codling, whiting, dabs, 3B rockling, 5B rockling, coalfish, pollack.
1st David Garvan 2.31kg (680cm in old money)
2nd Ben Beach 1.76kg
3rd Al Williams 1.58kg
HR - Ben Beach, Coalfish 180gms (30cm)
HF - Al Williams, Dab 70gms (21cm)
Report: Match 4 this year. It was manic from the start and it was soon realized that a quick change of rigs would be needed to standard 3 hook flappers and bigger hooks. Within 3 minutes of each cast the hook was either stripper bare or a fish was attached. Mostly coalfish showed to any cast within 50 meters, but better fish and more species showed at distance. Even with the chance of snow we were all kept warm and on our toes for the night. A good match for this time of year. Sorry, still no photos as there was nothing that great to get my fingers cold for.
