Duration:two days!

Tide:yes

Weather:not bad

Bait:fresh razor,king rag(farmed)lug,mack,

Rigs:all sorts

Results:salmon,bass,codling,poor cod,coalies,whiting,5 beard rockling,flounder.

Report:al came down on monday to meet zeke and fish a sligo mark,we were there by 5pm and meet zeke who unfortuntly could not fish but we had a chat, then got set up,fisherking was already there and had lost a small sea trout, the fishing was non existant for a few hours, but the chat was good as yorkshire man and davyp joined us for a hour, just for the craic!davy and yorkshire man had just left and i started to reel in my salt rod as i thought i had a lump of weed on it,as the weed hit the surfline it started to go ballistic!fish on :D finally got it beached and i tailed a fine salmon, which weighed in at 5lb 4oz,and yes its a salmon!it had a wrist so i could tail it,and the sissors was level with its eye,and the tail was forked.i was only sorry that davy was gone as he would have helped to verify this, but all agreed it was a salmon.soon after,al had a coalie, and i got a five bearded rockling and a tiny flounder, but i was delighted as i had three new species for the year.we headed back to my place soon after that and preceded to spend the whole night celebrating the salmon 8) three hours later we were back up, slightly hungover, and rather tired, but itching to give the clare mark a go for bass,we got there about five, and saltydog and baitdigger were already set up,we joined them and cast out, but the weed was horrid, rigs kept getting pulled down the beach, and there were some horrible tangles, goldwing had joined us at this stage and on his first cast got a coalie, but conditions were getting worse,we decided to cut our losses and head back to galway for plan b,john said he would have one last cast as we were breaking down our rods, next thing he was hollering and dancing around the beach like a demented child, first bass ever, 8) man,to say he was pleased is an understatement,we then headed back to our galway mark, where we preceded to catch codling, poor cod, whiting, pouting, and coalies,it was a great few days with good craic had by all,but now i think i'll sleep for two days  not used to the late nights any more! :D :D

just in the door from my 4 hour drive home from mayo, that snow and ice around fivemiletown was a bit mad    mayo was lovely today, not sure what happened to the weather in the north while i was away :? :? . but i had a blast and it was great to meet all the lads in sligo, galway and clare :P :P :P . i was chuffed to bits for doggie and goldwing with the salmon and bass. pure class lads 8) 8) 8) . i'll get back down with jordan when he gets off school for easter and we'll give that clare deep water rock mark a go :D :D :D :D . who knows what you might get with your lucky charm on board    . as ever doggie was the perfect host sorting me out with accomodation, beer  and venues. a true gent if ever there was one 8) . and as for a positive ID, doggie's salmon had the distinctive large kype (not shown well in the pic) and the scissors of the jaw do not extend well beyond the left corner of the eye, as they do in sea trout  . check out the pic and spot the differences

has to be seatrout...notice all the small spots on the flanks..salmon have much fewer larger spots....a salmon would also be leaner looking....comparing small and large sea-trout is useless...big sea-trout tend to have more enlarged features to immature ones(fins, bottom jaw etc) and look like a different species almost...

oh and btw...congrts on a cracker of a fish!
