Ards Peninsula 9/01/2010 tbh not 2009

Wed Jan 13, 2010 10:55 am

People:Ian & I

Duration:19:00 - 22:00

Tide:Ebbing

Weather:Stiff wind, Clear skies

Bait:Mack/Squid

Rigs:2 Hook Clip Down

Results:Codling and Coal Fish

Report:

Headed down to my local mark on the Ards Peninsula though rather late missing the rising tide :( but could not be avoided.

It didnt take very long until i was into a reasonable coaly caught on the top hook with 3/0's to keep the smaller fish at bay ;)

It was slow going with another decent codling comming an hour later.

Ive been down at the mark a few times recently and no doggies which for some is a blessing but find it rather wierd seeing there would be usually a few being caught :| maybe I am getting down to the mark a bit late or there is something else up.

Has anyone else seen a decrease in the amount of LSD's being caught?

Its not hard to see why if you take a walk along the quay in wicklow harbour, boxes and boxes of them for bait in pots

Depends on where you cast  it was a bit of both really, either clean ground or few yards left or right snagged

Couple a decent fish there mate

The only time ive been catching dogs seemed to have been august last year when I was in cork, one of my regular spots would have thrown up a dog or two regularly maybe it has been the cold snap has pushed them to deeper water, but I will be keeping an eye on them for a while as the water temp starts to increase.
