freezing fishing in sligo

Thu Jan 07, 2010 2:33 pm

plans had been made to go out,but with the secondery roads unpassable,we only had two options, galway or sligo, and as we wanted to fish with zeke before he left our shores sligo it was.Quick pm to zeke and the venue was picked, myself, john and jason were fishing by 3.30 and were joined by zeke twenty min later, jason was first in with a small seatrout his first ever :D :D quick pic and the fish was returned, soon after i had a small coalie, and then zeke landed a bigger seatrout about a lb and a half which was quickly returned,i then had another coalie and then things went quiet, time was spent having a good chat with zeke, with jason running up and down the beach trying to get circulation back to his feet! next time wear more than one pair of socks jason! john was worried this would be his first blank of 2010 but thankfully towards the end of the session he caught a small coalie,so blank saved and a new species for 2010 :D :D zeke then caught another seatrout, and on the very last cast i caught a small dab, that was that for the evening and we packed up,the temp as we went home registered at -6 so we were glad to get large coffees on the way.no photos as my laptop is down and this notebook has no disk space left.sorry

Well done lads.

Just a quick reminder to others that are thinking of fishing for sea trout to make sure you have a licence first, even if fishing in the sea.
I'd hate to hear of someone from the site getting fined by the fisheries board because they were unaware of the licence requirements

totally agree with you jd,you need a salmoniod licence to fish for seatrout and salmon, and salmon ans seatrout over 40cm killed must be tagged.120euros for an all district annual licence or 58 euros for a one district annual licence, also you need to check on open season for these fish as dates can vary, also some areas you cannot kill salmon or seatrout, for example clew bay.
