galway 1-1-2010

Fri Jan 01, 2010 4:29 pm

we had not got out for over two weeks with christmas and the weather,so myself and john decided to start the year the way we mean to finish it,fishing!jason opted out due to family commitments and drink! :D we hit a beach mark in galway and were fishing by twelve but for the next four hours we got nada! :D things were not looking good with a blank threatening to ruin the new year  so we hit a pier mark that never let us down in the past, five min in and blanks were saved with us both getting pin whiting, and more pin whiting, and then more pin whiting :D i then got a small pout and things got quiet for a while until johns rod gave a nice jump and he landed a codling of about 3/4lb,the coalies came on next with more pin whiting!i mean HOW doe a whiting no more than three inches SWALLOW a 2/0 hook  the dalm hook was nearly the same size!!about 7am we called it a halt after a very enjoyable night :D great to get some fish on the list on the first day of the year.pictures to follow

good show lads was thinking of heading out last night but along came the baby ( Yorkshire lass 10lb 1 oz) i think fishing may have to be put on hold for a while. Sleepless nights are on the way.
I recon my lad should be old enough to chuck a lead by the summer so father son bonding sessions will be on the way , just hope he likes fishing .
