Report:
So I wanted to give my new gear a spin, got a Penn 850 and A 13ft Greys off santa so finally got a few hours out. Wished I had lug, but went to dig em and figure they must have dug their way to oz, as none about, though the place I usually dig for em was actually covered in mounds of shale and shingle so I presume this was due to recent moxy weather washing that in...
Got setup, not much happening, the mussel was working the best, though as anyone knows the nightmare of gettin fresh mussel outta their shells and onto a hook- ya'd have more luck hocking up a builder's omelette and tryin to lash that onto the hook
Nice to get a few fish though, was hoping for at least 1 more rockling species to push the number up, was hoping to hit 30 but no chance now before dec 31st...
at least I've a goal for next year....actually gonna aim for 40 species next year...
packed up just before 9pm as feet were like blocks of ice...
Bray harbour is alot like a Parisienne Brothel- It can be busy, it can be slow going, but you always have fun, leave smelling of fish and are guaranteed to have caught lots of crabs!!!!!
Happy new Year if I don't post before then...

Tight Lines,

Dáire

Well done on getting out Daire, got a Penn 750 recently myself and find it a nice reel, as long as you dont have to change spools with cold fingers. Not sure if the 850 is the same, but it can be tricky and involves removing the spring and some washers so should be practiced at home and not on a beach or pier where the spring could fly off never to be seen again,,,,,,,,,,,,,lucky for me i had Fishface to show me how to change spools, i thought i could just pop one out and pop the other in  .Just thought i'd warn you in case you didnt know already  As for Parisienne Brothels and crabs,,,,,,,,,,,i'm denying everything     ,,,,,,,,though i have done the Can Can up and down the pier to keep warm

Cheers Eyes..yeah, the 850 just has a bigger spool on it, the only difference..
I'll bear that in mind next time I go to change spools!! That disappearing spring would defo put a dampner on the seesion alright, I'd have to resort to handlining like I did as a child!! :P

Think I'll head out again on wednesday, further down, if I can just get me mitts on some lug!!! :D
