Was I the only nutter to go fishing on Christmas day,
Had been planning a trip to Waterford for some time but I lost my bottle when I seen there was a very good chance of the ground being cold enough to freeze the rain we had earlier so instead of a 2 ½ hour drive to the Waterford mark I settled for a 1 hour drive down the Shannon estuary and was happy I did even though my catch was on the small side,
It was nice there when the sun came out for 45 minutes then when the wind picked up it got real nippy so after fishing 2 hours of the coming tide I sacked it and packed up,
On the way home I noticed little sings of ice on the road so kept it below 40kph, seen a car ahead of me that was going a little slower so I decided to drop back a little so as not to make the other guy feel he needed to go faster because of me up his bumper,
I hate it when idiots pull right up behind me So what I do is drop the speed right down to do there heads in until they get the message then I leave them for dust,
I lost sight of the car that was ahead of me as he went round a bend but as I came out of the bend I seen a car ahead of him that had either just pulled out or had been going a lot slower then both of us the car in front of me must have touched the breaks and slid clean across the road and up an embankment then slid back down, it was a very strange sight to see the car pick up speed and his headlights lights shine skyward as he/she shot up the embankment by this time the car that was ahead of him/ her pulled over to assist and it took me over 150 yards to stop safely… by this time he was already at the other car and seen as it was just a roll up and down the embankment I figured I would have been more of a hazard to oncoming traffic by going back so I crawled along warning other drivers of the hazard ahead,
Result. 3 Whiting & 1 Dab
So I was happy to get out and catch the little fish and needless to say a lot happier to have decided on the second much closer mark,
