slipway area galway 23/12/09

Wed Dec 23, 2009 3:05 am

People: myself and midget

Duration:4 hours

Tide:dropping

Weather:SW wind, apparently -8 out, freezing but dry

Bait: mack, sandeel

Rigs:long and lows, pennels

Results:codling, whiting, dogfish

Report: met midget at about 9pm at a mark neither of us have fished for a year or more. Although its usually a perfect fishing platform, it was like an ice rink today! We quickly realised why we hadnt fished it in a while, after an hour and a half with all baits coming in untouched we packed up and we moved. Once again we were greeted by another friendly rat. Baits were sent out but no fish. Then i pulled it a fat doggie on sandeel. Not much happened for a while then i got a small codling. We kept saying one more cast, then one more but eventually we packed it in as it was freezing cold. I got a small whiting in my last cast too.

I love fishing in this weather, its so calm and peaceful, just in from fishing myself got so cold my water bottle froze in my tackle box and our rod holdalls were rock solid with the frost even the lug had lumps of ice in it  but still winter is my favorite time of year. Well done on getting a few.
