On arrival at the venue conditions did not look good but despite the wet and windy conditions and roughish sea we decided to stay and fish. Luck was with us because the surf was clear of weed . It was getting dark as we set up and on my first cast i hooked the 39cm flounder quickly followed by two more smaller ones. fishing quinn started to catch smallish coalfish followed by a lsd . I was catching coalfish on a regular basis with a number of them over 30cm. Right at the end of the session fishing quinn connected with a 30cm codling which was a first from this beach. All in all a good nights fishing. About half we through our session a number of headlights appeared walking over the sand dunes heading in our direction. We thought they were fellow anglers coming down to the beach. Much to our suprise they belong to both uniformed and civilian dress garda who asked what we were up to. After explaining we were fishing they relaxed and we had a great conversation with them re fishing at night . They informed us the reason they had came to check was because some person had rung the garda station and informed them that a lot of activity with lights etc was going on down at the beach and needed investigation as it looked very suspicious.
