Bait: Lug, mussel

Hi all,
New to the site and my first post.
Had planned to get out early this morning and dig some bait in Sandymount, didn't quite go to plan.......Slept it out.... so by the time I reached the spot the tide was well on its way in. Anyhow, managed to dig enuf lug for a few casts. Also collected a few mussel which I could use in conjunction with the lug.
Reached the beach bout 2ish (the partwhere you have to walk down a little stream to get to the beach). The sun was shining but there was a cool enough breeze. Had fished this spot the two previous sundays and manged to catch a few codling + whiting. Unfotunately, today wasn't a repeat of previous form. Didn't get any bites, and with a snagged rig (lost) decided to call it a day. There were a few other lads fishing further up the beach, not sure if they were catching anything.
I've been shore angling for the last three years or so and have found this site very informative about every aspect of the sport. The missus bought my membership for 2010 as an early xmas pressie (what a woman), so hope to post s few more reports in the coming months ahead.
Tight lines

Welcome to the site CW1, things can only improve for you from this first post

.Its hard at the moment trying to eke out a few fish, especially in daylight, if you'd have stayed another while into darkness you might have had better luck

thanks for the welcome lads. Yeah, hope to get a few nite sessions in over the xmas hols. Must remember to bring a camera on the next trip. Fished the south beach quite a bit last year. Not one codling to show for it all winter. I could be wrong, but reading a few of the other reports it seems as though there are good few codling being caught along the east coast compared to this time last year?

Hi all, I have been reading these forums for a while but this is my first post.
I think I have been fishing Ennereilly but I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone confirm if this is the beach just south of brittas with best access from the road beside "the shack", through the field, down the steps? There is a house at the southern point of the beach I fished that has a wind turbine in the garden. Other identifying feature would include flounder and small bass over the last few weeks!
This is the the first of the many questions I have about my latest addiction!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lads,
No Ennereilly is further south again. Theres two parts to it. The North and South Beach. My report was From the North Beach. Continue along coast road from the beach your talkin about, when you pass european golf club you'll come to to a junction with soem large fernss on the faar side of road. There is a gate in the fence and then about a 10 min walk across the sand dunes (watch out for electric fencing and the odd cross looking horse) and your on the north beach. Alternatively if you continue south again for a couple of mins you'll come to a small verge with a steel yellow coloured barrier at the end of it (opposite a house). Walk doen past the barrier, you'll need wellies as its a muddy stream this time of year , and your on the North Beach. If ya head further south again for about 5 mins you'll come to a small carpark, almost on top of the beach, and thats Ennereilly south!
