freezing fishing in mayo!

Tue Dec 01, 2009 2:15 pm

myself and john decided to head out on sunday, the originial plan was to hit keem for a session but freezing fog put paid to that  went and dug some lug and headed to a small beach near mullaranny to give it a try, this was a new mark for us and we were set up by 12 am,after three hours fishing, three rigs lost and no fish, we decided to move to another spot. the fog had lifted a bit,so we hit darby point to try our luck there, rigs out and stright into....crab!  but as the tide started to ebb and the race started to flow, the doggies started to feed,so at least no blanks then!a few small coalies and pollock started to show, but just as we started to catch, two bloody big trawlers came in to the pier and blocked of the fishing!! by this stage we could not feel our fingers, both of us had forgotten our gloves, all i can say is survival suits are the biz!so with hot coffee needed we decided to call it a day.

well done Noel and John, I'm still stuck here with the floods, can't even get near Portumna bridge atm, pondering of selling my house to move somewhere closer to the sea, I'm suffering serious withdrawal symptoms at this stage
