Report:28th- After the irish match decided to head down to the beach hoping to get a few fish, was greeted by a thick freezing fog and a flat calm sea. Decided to put one rod at distance and one in real close. From the first cast i was getting fish in close. Then i got a nice bite followed by a slack line on the rod at distance, wound down and struck into a good big of weight, the line started to veer of to the right, after a couple of minutes it went light, when i got the rig in the hook was bitten off :( il know to use stronger snoods at distance anymore, if i had to guess it was a huss but il never know :( . Kaylem arrived and got a couple of fish in close, while i continued to get plenty in close. Decided to call it a day around 8.15 pm, nice little session nice to see plenty of fish around.

29th:

While i was a lazy B*****d in bed after a very late night, kaylem decided to go down to the slipway in salthill, Flat calm sea again but murky water. He was fishing at distance in hope of a few fish. When i woke i decided to go for a bit of casting practice(i love calm days) :D Ended up borrowing a flapper off kaylem, got one little whiting on my first cast and nothing on 2nd and last cast, kaylem had nothing untill i got down and he pulled in a nice little double shot of whiting, headed home shortly after!

fair play for getting out so much guys. i'm gutted for ya loosing the big guy,, wonder what weight he was   . but sure we would'nt be proper fishermen without the odd one that get's away :P :P . i recently loaded all our reels with 30lb braid, so we now tie all our rigs with 25lb snoods. that way if you get snagged up you'll only loose the snood length instead of the whole rig, lead and a shock leader  . seemed pointless tying a snood length any stronger than the strength of line that's on your reel. cos if you get snagged up the shockleader knot will always be the weak link in the set up    just a pity it only took me 2 years to figure it out

took me quite a while too, a few days ago i threw a flapper out, managed to get stuck and the rig came back with 3 broken snoods!
