Donaghadee 02/11/09

Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:50 pm

People: Just Me

Duration: 1pm - 4pm

Tide: Dropping, not ideal

Weather: Bright, Calm

Bait: Ragworm, Sandeel, Squid

Rigs: 2/3 Hook Flappers.

Results: 1 Haddock, 4 Ballan Wrasse, 1 Corkwing Wrasse, Rock Goby?, Loads of Whiting.

Report:

Well the Weather was nice and I had some Rag left from a previous session so a blast at the Dee was in order.
Set up with 2 and 3 hook Scratchers, Fired one rod to the far side, and the other to the middle, immediately started getting loads of wee whiting, mostly in doubles. Meanwhile I got a small knock on the affinity which turned out to be a Rock Goby, I think. lol....

Steady stream of whiting still happening while on the Beachcaster I managed a Corkwing, and next cast I dropped short of the rough and managed a Wee Haddock! Score! 8) Managed another 3 Wrasse from the far side, nothing huge, but a bit of fun all the same.

Eye Candy. :)

How far drive is donaghdee from newry. I have family up around there and the fishing up north looks pretty good. Might give it a try some time. Those goby are f**kers when they're around. I lost 10euro worth of rag to them in about an hour one night. The whiting aren't much better when there's small ones around.

Depends on the traffic of course, but you will do it in under an hour. Newry to the Ardglass area is a bit closer and most likely better fishing. 8)

Cheers, what would the target species be in Ardglass.

Wrasse, Conger and should be some good codling and whiting moving in now.

whiting are everywhere at this time of year, and are a pest. lol, must have had over 40 of them at millisle about a month ago.
