Report: I was working down this neck of the woods for most of the week so decided to bring the
rods as i had peelers left over from a comp. I was lucky enough to find a couple of venues fairly handy (ta for the pm's fellas

) so fished the strand first on monday avo with a lovely surf rolling in i thought happy days and after second cast
i landed my first bass of about 2lb with a couple of missed bites after that, this was to be it for session. Tuesday the weather deteriated and the beach was in a cyclonic state but fishable none the less. I made the plan to fish the strand
for an hour or so and wait for the estuary to fill then head around. With no bites on the strand i headed around to the estuary low and behold the fishing was hectic with a bass flounder double first cast and a constent flow of bass after, nothing big all around the 2 to 3lb mark. The session on the wednesday was to be the icing on the cake. I again fished the strand firstly resulting in a couple of bass and a turbot of about a half pound then headed around to the estuary again with around 5 bass coming a shore with biggest been 4lb

. I have to say Ballybunion is a lovely unspoiled part of the country and i was especially amused when a couple of otters floated by on their backs munching on some type of fish. All fish bar the 4lbr was released to fight another day
