Report:
I was feeling dangerous today so i decided to have a go at the notorious tackle graveyard of the seaward side of the east pier to see if I could catch some of those big pollack and wrasse. I had some nice fresh- and big- king rag and some frozen sandeel and razor that I had from a previous trip. The shoreline was potted up as usual but I decided to wet a few lines anyway.
I caught a nice little coalie on my second cast; he took a half rag. Blank saver!

Next I got a small pouting on a sandeel portion.

I decided to live dangerously and target the closer snaggy ground in search of the wrasse I wanted. This took a fair old toll on the hooks so I had to change frequently; if you keep your wits about you, you can actually minimise tackle loss here.
Well after a few iffy moments and missed bites I got a very subtle rattle; keeping the rod high I reeled in and a beautiful little goldsinny was mine.

I desperately wanted one of the bigger ballans so I loaded up with good-sized rag baits. It wasn't long before I was tackling this beauty.

After the HSS came in, with its enormous wake, the action died down for a bit and I couldn't connect with any fish

. I decided to have a last cast with the last or my worm and sandeel; that feck I did because I caught this spectacular wrasse.

All in all it was a good day's fishing I must say. Wrasse are an amazing fish: such variation in colour over such a small territory. They all swam away well after being released thank god.
