Report:Went to Dun Laoghaire on Friday night just to get out for a few hours somewhere handy. Set up near the bandstand and was soon into some small whiting, coalies, and pollock. Had a backpack which has a seat in it but its no where near as good as my Ian Golds backpack. If you could sit on the Ian Golds backpack it'd be perfect,,,,,,,,,,,,well i mean if you could sit on it without it collapsing it'd be perfect  .I got a couple of small codling , then a good tug on the line which turned out to be a welcome doggie , theres a good boy   . Before i left i put the mack head on a conger rig and dropped it over the side .I nearly cra~#ed meself when it started to move. Its just crabs, i said to myself but when i lifted into it it took off ,then dug in. I tried the tips i read on the site, tapped the rod end to annoy him, gave him slack etc, but when he started to move and i lifted again he would dig in again  . Eventually the line gave.Maybe it was just wishful thinking, but i'd prefer to remember it as my first brush with a conger.

Sat morning, 17th, i went to Na Clocha Liatha , to fish the rising tide. It was deserted when i got there, so i picked my spot and set up. A small pollock was first up , followed by a coalie and then a whiting. No wrasse !!!     Then to my relief, i landed a corkwing wrasse, around the 20cm mark . The weather was great, slight southerly breeze, and sunny. Then the Lads from last week who filled a bag to bursting with wrasse and small pollock, coalies etc, arrived. I wont go into it on the reports section as i have put it in another section, but suffice to say i got a load off my chest   .They didnt stay around long. I didnt stay too much longer myself, in the end i got 4 corkwing wrasse, some coalies, whiting and pollock

well done dave and fair play for speaking your mind and educating those lads  i'll grab you one of those measures with the n.f.s.a. recomended retention sizes listed on it the next time i'm in the tackle shop man, it's came in handy all summer for me at the piers. you might not speak the lingo but it's easy enough to lift the various species outta their bags and buckets and point out how big they should be before they go home to the pot. those lads in bangor emptied the bucket everytime they saw me coming with the measure in my hand all summer   well done again man 8) 8)

Fair play for having a word with those lads. Next time something like that occurs take a sneaky picture of them and post it up :) . Excellent reports BTW , no BS just good honest reports.

well done dave nice session pity about the conger, they can be hard to get out from the rocks and hard on gear as well,i am having better luck since i started using stronger gear, even the small ones can give one hell of a fight
