With the settled weather we've had over the last while, i was thinking shark attempt from the shore quick call to steve and off we went. We set up a nice slick with the rubby dubby bag 10yr old pilchard oil i had stored away bran & mashed up mackerel. We had no runs not even a huss to keep us entertained so we ended up setting up a 2nd rod and staved off the bored by picking off the coalies and pollack that were swarming around the rubby dubby.
Friday 9th 17:30-23:30
Nige vinnycorrigan, stevecrow74 & myself decided to hit a Galway City beach myself and steve dug enough lug for the session while Nige went to pick up vinny. We had only set up when Nige was in with a nice flounder. We spotted a lot of birds working the shoreline and noticed lots of sprat in the water. No sooner had we done so when steve and myself we getting hit by mackerel lovely fresh bait. Nige was in again with another flounder and Vinny followed suit. Nige got his 3rd flounder on as many casts. I picked up a coalie steve was in next with a flounder and vinny got a 2nd flounder. I had a few more mackerel and a 2nd coalie. We were chatting away when i got a good rattle i could feel something decent on looked over the edge could make out the shape of Bass or so i thought Bass i shouted we all scrambled down the waters edge to get a closer look to be greeted by a grey mullet steve did the honours and grabbed it first of the year so well happy weighed in at 2lbs 8ozs

things went slow after that we were on our last casts when i got hit again this thing is pulling back i said to steve he went down to the waters edge waiting for it to come in... i could see a big flash of silver then disaster one of the swivels on my boom rig gave the fish was on the beach in the wash steve made a run for it and tried to shuffle it in he nearly had it when a wave came in and took it

it was another mullet steve reckoned it was double the size of the previous one... oh well thats fishing good to know they're cruising that beach both mullet falling to my "Rig of Doom" TM all in all an enjoyable session nice to see something different showing up at this mark... Vinny has some pics
